There are many business owners that still wonder about the benefits of digital marketing in comparison to traditional marketing. As the world becomes a more digitally focused place, there are not many households in Europe without at least two devices, including smartphones, tablets, computers and TVs. So, can businesses really survive on traditional marketing alone? Perhaps, but they would be foolish to and here is why:

  • Digital marketing allows smaller businesses to compete with bigger businesses. Gone are the days where small businesses had to bow down to large corporations. Having an online presence levels the playing field because any business has the potential to reach a massive audience, both in their own country and abroad.

  • Traditional marketing is expensive! By the time you have printed out leaflets, posters, stickers and paid for advertisements in magazines or local newspapers, you will have taken a huge chunk out of your business budget. Marketing online costs next to nothing, unless you buy PPC or advantage spots with social networks, but even then, it is a fraction of the cost when compared with traditional advertising.

  • When you use traditional marketing you have to wait to see if you get the results you want. When you use digital marketing, the results can be instant. You may find yourself receiving feedback, messages and enquiries via comments as soon as five minutes after you have posted something.

  • When you think of posting a flyer or leaflet through a door, do you think of the recipient sharing it with their family or friends? More often than not these days, that flyer will end up in the bin. However, if you post the same flyer onto a social network site, it is very easy for your followers to click the share button. You may be surprised by how far your information goes!
